When we think about the socialization process in schools, it may be worth considering something that happened about a decade ago. We're speaking of the massacre at Columbine High School, where unpopular students committed mass murder. Nor was this the only school where such a thing happened, as quite a few other incidents of this type have happened in schools in the U.S. and elsewhere.
Now, school security is much tighter in many schools as a result of this. So it is difficult to blame any parent for deciding to take positive measures to ensure the safety of their children. As long as parents who homeschool their kids make sure that they're exposed to enough social and cultural events, it's hard to argue with their point of view.
There is also the debate that the same amount of time is not the same in terms of educational quality. One statement we saw indicated that roughly six hours of education in a public school is worth approximately two hours in the home school. Also, some home schooled children report they are able to accomplish more in terms of study and learning at home. Then they cite that fact allows them time to devote to other pursuits which have socialization benefits. So there is a social outlet for these homeschoolers, specialized organizations are making an effort to create activities for these children.
Maybe you have heard of 4-H clubs, and they have existed for many decades. They have a diverse choice of clubs your child can join based on interest. And if they're interested, all of your children can become involved. These clubs are a great way for children to meet and socialize with others and as an added bonus, there's no cost to join. The internet is responsible for children being better able to network than they used to in years past. So, the kids your children meet through 4-H clubs will most likely introduce them to their friends.
If you have parks and civic recreation departments where you live, then that is another possibility for meeting other children. Team sports are offered by many of these organizations. Use this to augment other strategies you're using for helping your children develop their social skills. What is especially positive about these organizations is they allow your kids to meet peers in their age groups. And this effectively addresses most people?s main concern with homeschooling. So it would seem children who are homeschooled actually have greater opportunities for social development. This is partially due to their parents understanding the need to get their children out in various settings with other children. And there should be plenty of groups for kids to with others their own age.
Of course Graduate Schools is important to you otherwise you would not have been searching for it. But it really can easily go far beyond the obvious since it is tough to know all about what is possible. Once that occurs, of course there will be issues that appear that you were not expecting. That should give you reason enough to have the desire to branch out and explore other areas for research. We know you can get that job accomplished since it is information and there is plenty of it around. Be sure you only take solid information from trusted sources on the net because we all know how it is. We have all seen sites that sure looked pretty suspect with their content, and you always need to pay attention.
